During my hiatus, I am glad to welcome LST resident Diane Hollowell as a guest contributor to Saucon Shenanigans. It’s good to hear different voices. If you have an interest in writing a guest column for Saucon Shenanigans, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for your contribution, Diane.
Lower Saucon Taxpayers And Hellertown Residents
If you cannot make a council meeting of the Lower Saucon Township Council the first and third Wednesday of each month, you can watch it on the Township’s YouTube livestream, but be aware it will take over six hours of your time.
Councilmembers Banonis and Carocci are an embarrassment to our township. They call fellow Council members “Vladimir, dumb asses, morons, stupid, clowns,” telling them to shut their big fat ignorant mouths and get their heads out of their ass. They constantly disrupt when other members are speaking. They berate taxpayers who speak at meetings. They told a taxpayer who spoke up at a meeting that she was speaking out of her ass. We deserve better than this. What kind of a role model are they to our junior council members?
They constantly disparage Hellertown. We are two communities who share a school district, youth athletic teams, a pool, a rail trail, and a library.
We used to share a compost center but now Lower Saucon has its own, requiring us to use taxpayer money to ship the waste to another location. Last year they gave $50,000 of taxpayer money to a library in another county with no strings attached. How fiscally sound is that with our taxpayer money?
Then there is the ballfield, built at a cost of over $3,000,000.00 to taxpayers. The field on Easton Road has NO bathroom facilities. Banonis and Carocci’s response was “It was an oversight.” Makes us wonder what other oversights they made with our taxpayer money. They want to take money allocated for the rail trail and move it to the million dollar ballfield. As an insult to the council president, they wanted to make a motion to name the future bathroom facilities after her. Their lack of planning when they were in charge has become our taxpayers’ money pit.
You only need to watch the first fifteen minutes of the meeting on November 6th to see how these two conduct themselves. After their constant disruptions they leave meetings early, missing discussions and votes on items that benefit Lower Saucon residents.
If you cannot make a meeting, you can still voice your concerns. Please email your concerns about the behavior of these two men to Cathy Gorman, Acting Township Manager, manager@lowersaucontownship.org and request to have your concerns read into the minutes during the non-agenda comment section at the next meeting.
The next Council meeting is this coming Wednesday, November 20 at 6:30 PM at Town Hall, available in person if you have the stomach for it, or via the Township livestream. The agenda details are available on the Township website.
Happy Thanksgiving!
